Benet Hill Monastery

Catholic

Colorado, United States

Benet Hill Monastery sits on a wooded property at the north edge of Colorado Springs, home to the Sisters of Benet Hill, a community of Benedictine women who describe themselves as contemporary Benedictines: living by the Rule of St. Benedict while staying engaged with the world outside the enclosure. Their guiding values are the ones Benedict wrote down in 516 CE, hospitality to strangers and respect for all creation, and their public posture is a simple one: come exactly as you are. The setting is the draw. Guests stay in retreat houses tucked into the pines, with trails, prayer sites, a forest labyrinth, and the St. Benedict Columbarium Garden on the grounds. The sisters frame a stay here as time to step away from screens and schedules, in solitude or in company, in silence or in conversation, or some mix of the two.
